Ruffles therapy

Ever Since I moved to Austin area (honestly an hour north of Austin in the middle of nowhere), I’ve been on a hunt for awesome brunch/hh places that deserve my 2-hour ride. 😉 This time I’ve discovered a perfect spot that caters all my needs, an unbeatable chic interior, great ambiance and affordable menu!

The whole interior here just WOWs me. I know I could be dramatic when it comes to things I like. But who cares, a good drink and decor make me happy.

Future bar reference. If I could arrange my home like this vibe, life is awesome and I would refuse to go out.

I’m sure some Austines knew where is this place! It’s a restaurant called Hillside Pharmacy. They have happy hour $2 off cocktails 3-6pm everyday half price snacks 4-6pm. They have offer half off oysters every Monday night.

Take your blog & Instagram photos to next level

Hey, my fellow blogger friends! 😘 I’ve received a lot of questions from you guys regarding how I edit my photos and which camera do I use for my blog and Instagram, so here it is, I decided to put all these useful information together to help you boss babes level up your visual game.

 Photo editing apps

  1. VSCO
This is probably the one that I use the most and super popular among instagrammers. It has various filters to create ‘film-like’ tones and there are settings tutorial on Pinterest for beginners to create constant feed as well (you can find them on Pinterest easily).
  2. Afterlight
If you wonder how some bloggers create the light leaks and dusty filter look, this app will be your best friend, it’s also free and they released an Afterlight 2 as well.
  3. Meitu
This is the magic app when you wanna fix your blemishes or uninvited acnes. It has amazing skin smoothing feature and super user-friendly, this will save your life.
  4. Huji
The design of this app looks like a vintage film camera and it creates a super retro filter look if you’re looking for some creative/edgy look, it’s a fun app to play with after all.

I’ve received this questions all the time and a lot of you are curious about what camera do I use for my blog & Instagram. As a blogger who needs to be able to capture the moment or snap whenever you see a nice backdrop, I would recommend a mirrorless camera.

  1. Sony Alpha a6000
This is the previous camera which I used for my photography as well as my blog, it has wifi of course. I LOVE the quality of this camera and it creates amazing images and videos. You can also buy the body only and purchase another lens (what I recommend).
  2. Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II
This is my current camera and I love it. It’s soooo light and compact, you can pretty much fit it into your pants pocket, snap and take videos then wifi to your phone to edit. It’s a point and shoot yet can create the ‘depth of field’ effect and SMOOTH YOUR SKIN. A lot of vloggers are obsessed with this camera and its lowlight capability are awesome. I use this camera a lot when I travel or normal product shots.
  3. Canon EOS 6D or Canon EOS 6D Mark II
I use this camera mainly for my photography service purpose and recently added for personal use. It is my babe and a lot of photographers LOVE this camera. However, I would recommend a mirrorless camera for bloggers who prefer a lighter option and look for ‘depth of field’ blurry background outfit photos, because the sony alpha a6000 or a6500 can totally do this job wonderfully.

  1. Nifty Fifty (50mm 1.8)
    For Canon |  For Sony
These are the most affordable lens and so versatile for portraits and whole body shots. I used my 50mm for EVERY. SINGLE. THING.

Examples of my images taken with Sony a6000 & 50mm 1.8 (It was a shoot I did with a local blogger Paige from Austin.)

I hope this post helps you along your blogging journey and please comment below if you have any questions! I’d love to write some more informative post☺️ I’m no expert by the way, haha! Thanks for reading. xx

New York state of mind

3 weeks in 2018 and your girl just came back from a trip to NYC! (yay it was my first time and I grew up watching so many movies filmed in New York so I felt like a little girl again).

I struggled so much with traveling in winter weather and it’s a pain when you wanna bring 10+ outfits but your suitcase said NO. 😂 New York was just as I imagined it should be! It’s busy 24/7, people dressed like magazines, cute bars and restaurants everywhere, any corners could be a good spot for a photoshoot.

I believe you could relate to this: when it’s so cold outside and you have zero intention to go out, we decided to wake up early and explore the city during day time ONLY. At night we stayed in cozy Airbnb then order GrubHub lol! But seriously, when you’re living in central NYC there’s nothing they can’t deliver to your door, we had legit sushi, chirashi, korean pancakes etc. 😌

More pics from this trip will be up on the blog soon!

New Year, New Actions.

I realized I’m not very good at keeping up with my blog later in 2017, my goal for 2018 as a blogger is to be consistent with putting out great content. Strive for progress, not perfection, It’s easy to put blogging behind when you feel like you don’t have enough to share with readers.

I understand it’s stressful for bloggers like us in times like this, when IG algorithm keeps evolving and it’s hard to catch up with all the unexpected low engagement.  We are spending so much time behind the scene to put out high-quality images and results are not as great as it used to, I get it because I’m one of you. But what’s the solution? We have already started this journey and gained followers from the bottom, you gotta keep pushing and continue with better content, believe it’ll be worth it in the end.

This year countdown I was at home, dressing cozy with my wine and loved ones. Maybe I’m getting older? The urge to go out and get drunk with friends are over lol. I cannot take hangover so excuse me, I’m content with some candle lights homemade meals🤣 There is one thing I have to get rid of my life in 2018, PROCRASTINATION.

Yeah, I love everything about entrepreneurship and read a lot about successful CEOs and admire their mindset etc. Taking action towards your goal is another thing, and I admit I’m a big procrastinator in life. At the end, nobody is responsible for your life. You are your own boss this year I’m going to take charge. In terms of health, wellness, family and career, no more whining please 😊

(taken at Ah Sing Den, honestly the food was just ok but I love the vibe and interior, great for photos, not sorry for being a food critic savage 🙃)

Now, go look into the mirror and tell this person in front of you, ‘YOU CAN!’. I want all of us to win this year. ❤️
